Effort // A Balancing Act

Effort.  According to Merriam-Webster is "work done by the mind or body: energy used to do something" and "a serious attempt".  Effort is something I am constantly struggling with.  Where/what are the appropriate places, people, and things to put effort into?  I put SO much time and energy into SO much in my life and you know what, I am so damn exhausted.

Try, try, try, and try some more.  It is what I continually tell myself.  If something shows a bit of promise, give it the benefit of the doubt.  But where and how do we find that balancing act?  When is enough enough, or something is not worth it?  It seems like effort is the biggest challenge of all.

I spend a lot of time thinking about these types of things.  Lots of time writing or talking about them with friends.  A lot of people do this, yet we don't put the effort into changing.  Effort into my health, life, job, etc.  And, when it comes to my "try, try, and try some more" mentality at what point is it considered insanity - Urban Dictionary defines this as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".  Well, cool.  So my effort and energy can also be insanity.

So, how do we balance?  How do we let go and find that inner focus?  How do we control ourselves when we want to balance but let it go?
